Your Hosts

Your hosts are Merete Fossum and Krister Hoel, who also run Grindal Salmon Lodge. Merete is passionately committed to the local community and is the heir to the neighboring farm. Krister is an avid salmon fisherman and is deeply dedicated to preserving the wild salmon that migrate up the Orkla River each year. Both are eager to show the world what Grindal has to offer, from food and nature to its people.

Getting here

Our closest airport is Trondheim Airport Værnes, approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes from Aunan Farm. You can fly directly to Trondheim from London, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Copenhagen and several other European cities. It’s also possible to fly through Oslo with SAS or Norwegian as there are more than 20 daily flights between the two airports. At Trondheim Airport you can either rent a car or we can arrange a transfer for you to the lodge. You can also take a train from Oslo to Berkåk, and we will arrange a transfer to the lodge.

By Car

From Oslo:
Follow the E6 until you reach Berkåk. Then take a left onto road 700 towards Orkanger. Follow road 700 for approximately 25 minutes until you reach Grindal. Look for a sign on your right that says “Aunan Lodge.” Take a right after the sign and follow the road down to the riverbank. You can find directions from Berkåk through Google Maps here.

From Trondheim Airport Værnes:
Follow the E6 towards Trondheim for approximately 40 minutes. Then take a right onto the E39 and follow that road for 25 minutes until you reach Orkanger. At Orkanger, take road 65 and follow the signs towards Berkåk up the Orkla river valley. After around 45 minutes, you will drive through the village of Å and then you're getting close. After another five minutes, you will see a sign that says “Aunan Lodge.” Take a left off the main road and follow the road down to the lodge at the riverbank.
